Seattle – Pike Place Chowder

After 3 weeks in Hong Kong and Singapore, I took another visit to Seattle to watch Wicked.  Aside, Wicked is definitely up there in my books as one of my favorite musicals; it is officially tied with Joseph and the Techni-color Dream Coat, Phantom of the Opera, Hairspray and Les Miserables.  Ok, I have a lot of favorites.  I am officially blaring the Wicked soundtrack on my car speakers.

When I go visit Seattle, I usually stop over at Pike Place Market or Cheesecake Factory (or both!)  Pike Place is one of my favorites places, the market is huge and filled with amazing and unique fresh produce, flowers and restaurants serving donuts, cheese, sandwiches, fresh fish and more.

Pike Place Chowder has the BEST clam chowder.  They also serve a variety of other delicious seafood chowders, but by far the original New England Chowder reigns supreme.  It has been voted the Nations Best Chowder.  You can order a sample, above we had the seafood bisque, seared scallop and two New England Chowders.  These four soups, with bread for $10.45.  The food is great, but the service is not always the friendliest.

Update (November 28) – I recommended Pike Place Chowder to an Aussie colleague who was making a visit to Seattle.  The next day he comes to my cubicle with only these few words “you were right, it was the best I ever had!”
