I can’t help but notice that many others who took advantage of this deal for Verace Pizzeria are Asian — myself included. No doubt, everyone likes a good deal, but maybe when it comes to food, it seems that hunting for a good deal is especially prevalent among the Asian community.
Granted, this was a pretty good deal, four courses for $15 from VANeats.ca. I must say, with the lack of decent group buying discounts available these days, it’s nice to see restaurants still participating and offering discount coupons at volume.
Burrata cheese finished with Balsamic Reduction and Lemon Oil and served with Warm Rosemary Pizza Bread
Salati Assortiti – daily selection of Cured Meats and Cheese, Marinated Vegetables, and Warm Olives accompanied by Warm Rosemary Pizza Bread
There was a long break between this course and the next. For some reason, our server disappeared and completely forgot about us. In fact, he wasn’t even around for us to chase down. We resorted to bugging another server instead, who, though quite apologetic, didn’t seem to know where our food went. Alas, around 30 minutes later…
½ Prosciutto e Rucola – Plum Tomato Sauce, Fior di Latte Mozzarella topped with Prosciutto, Fresh Arugula, Grana Padano and Olive Oil
½ Funghi – Mushroom Cream, Cipollini balsamic Onions, Mixed Crimini, Portabella, and Oyster Mushrooms. Topped with Fresh Oregano, Grana Padano and Olive Oil.
My assumption is that this pizza would have tasted much better had we gotten in served right out of the oven. For the sake of not wanting to wait for another thirty minutes, we decided not to complain.
Lemoncello Layer Cake, Limoncello infused Lady Fingers layered with Lemon Curd and Mascarpone Cream
And, because we spent all that time waiting, our new server decided to grace us with complimentary Italian hot chocolate, but not before shooting our original server a few dirty looks.
There’s a lot that can be said about the food at Verace, but there are so many other sites that have reviewed the same dishes and I’m not trying to sound lazy, but I rather be lazy than repetitive. What I would like to say is that amongst all the added expenses of every day life and the “eating-out” budget that always somehow gets higher and higher each month, it’s nice to have options like the ones offered by VANEats. Afterall, everyone likes a good deal, no matter what ethnicity you are.
